We are proud to share our 2020-2023 Impact Report, highlighting Subul’s progress and commitment to empowering conflict-affected and displaced tech talent. We are driven by our vision to make the digital world a place of opportunity for all, where refugees and disadvantaged individuals not only overcome the many barriers they face, but are leaders in the tech sector.
We have two physical work spaces that house our Impact Gig work programs where over 550 displaced individuals have secured freelance work in the tech industry. We also have created employment pathways for 60 refugees who now have secured full-time tech roles commensurate with their skills and experience.
Supporting and empowering the tech talent in our community is central to our mission. More than 1,200 disadvantaged individuals from conflict-affected MENA regions have participated in our digital training programs where we teach essential skills in Google and Office applications, data collection, and project management softwares. Notably, women constitute 50% of participants on average. Our initiatives aim to bridge inequalities within the digital divide by ensuring equal access to ICT training for underserved people groups.
This report employs both qualitative and quantitative analysis to examine our impact among the communities we work in. Our primary focus throughout this report was to listen to the talent we work with and explore together on how to improve our impact. Therefore, we conducted various surveys and interviews with our tech talent and we are excited to share our impact findings and future improvement strategies with our community.
With the support of global partners, we have successfully delivered upskilling programs and ongoing career development in the MENA region to create a more inclusive and sustainable tech ecosystem. A huge thank you to our partners at Echoing Green, Baytna, The Karl Kahane Foundation, The Asfari Foundation, Humans in the Loop, Forward Inc. and many others. This work is only possible because of a community united by our common mission to bridge opportunity gaps for marginalized and displaced people.
Looking ahead to 2025, we aim to expand our talent pool of tech specialists from conflict-affected regions and foster new relationships with employers to place 150 individuals in meaningful, full-time roles. We also are focusing on creating durable partnerships to serve the talent we work with by offering various support services such as ESL classes, mental health resources, a financial support fund, and career mentoring. Subul’s mission is to bridge the gap between underserved communities and the global tech industry, and we thank our clients and partners for making this impact possible.
